V. EDUCATION & TRAINING

In order to adapt to the emerging new demands we need flexibility to modify education to respond to the changing needs of society. In addition to formal education, learning should be understood as a continuous process. In the long run, this enables a successful matching of personal competencies and the actual expectations of society.

To provide opportunities for all of this, careful integration and co-operation between educational establishments and actors in the labor market is needed. KMC aims at being the uniting force in setting up such linkages and partnerships, and to provide tailor-made consulting services in the education sector of Azerbaijan.

In the education sector KMC provides expertise in questions relating to the different levels of education, including:

Strategy and policy analysis and formulation:

Objectives:

  • Establish and support a sub-regional electronic network for education systems of the sub-region
  • Strengthening the educational policy framework
  • Carry out action and policy research studies and develop model policy guidelines
  • Develop Education Management Information Systems
  • Support extended access to, and sharing of, information
  • Implementation of ICT policies and strategies for education systems in the sub region
  • Develop a high-level course to provide interested policy makers with information about the integration of ICT for educational purposes.

Education management and development of information systems (EMIS)

The objectives of EMIS can be summarized as follows:

  • Establish harmonized and integrated systems, particularly registration, enrolment, staffing, finances and facilities
  • Enable timely collection of education data
  • Facilitate information processing and analysis
  • Facilitate dissemination and feedback of education information
  • Enable sharing and exchanging of data and information
  • Facilitate efficiency in necessary decisions and intervention measures (including early warning)
  • Provide systems for education planning and management

Curriculum and textbook development

The objectives of curriculum and textbook development are:

  • Identifying local needs (differentiating curricula and materials between provinces)
  • Designing locally-adapted Curriculum Development proposals including syllabus and instructional material for lower secondary and primary subjects, in collaboration with their intended users (in-service Lower Secondary and Primary Teacher Trainers)
  • Testing, validating and evaluating innovative Curriculum Development proposals (including locally adapted and user-friendly training materials and pedagogic tools)
  • Textbook evaluation
  • Production and distribution
  • Teachers and textbook choice.
  • Sustainable provision of textbooks school library development and book sector development.

Teacher training

Some objectives of training programmes are:

  • Preparation and training of teachers
  • Supporting vocational skills development
  • Continuing professional development, education, health and community development
  • Promoting inclusivity
  • Ensuring access to development for the poor, vulnerable and marginalised groups
  • Promoting sustainable livelihoods
  • Involving key stakeholders in decision-making
  • Training teachers to identify students, who may be at risk of alcohol and drug problems and the steps to assist them in getting help
  • Increasing teacher comfort level with the content and process of drug education
  • Planning and delivering training for inspectors, head-teachers and teachers
  • Training in education management
  • Ensuring access to development for the poor, vulnerable and marginalised groups
  • Designing and coordinating study visits and training programmes for overseas education senior officials and teachers
  • Designing and planning Teachers' Training Courses on Curriculum Development, using innovative methodologies, adapted to the needs of ethnic minorities' teachers and students
  • Increasing the competence, confidence and commitment of teachers of drug education, and improve teacher confidence in using interactive teaching methods
  • Assisting teachers in planning, developing and implementing a drug education programme for their classroom

Evaluation and assessment development

Objectives:

  • Active teaching and learning daily practices
  • Learners' individual & collaborative competences based on their own daily life experience
  • Peers' tutoring
  • Teachers' & students' research capacities
  • Lesson plan preparation and contract work methodologies
  • Use of modern teaching equipment
  • Development of adapted Teaching & Learning Aids
  • Teachers/learners & learners/learners interactivity
  • Confidence and communication skills of ethnic minorities' teachers and students
  • Parental participation and awareness

Information Technology

Some objectives are:

  • To encourage teaching practices supported by Information and Communication Technology
  • To develop networking between educational institutions, and their equipment, and to educate and train staff on the role of ICT
  • To assist in the production, distribution and location of multimedia resources
  • To enhance the products and services industry
  • To organise and plan of the provision of information resources in school and university libraries

All our projects are implemented taking into account their broader social impacts. Therefore, the projects are not merely about education as such, but also about the larger significance of personal development to the community and its well being.
